I have a LiteOn DVD Burner and having some issues with. My old one was a LiteOn and never had any problems with. Was wondering what some good ones are that are compatable with Sony DVD Architect 3. Are Sony Drives any good? The model I have now is a SHW-1635S (LiteOn). Have problem reading some discs that I used in the earlier model. Also sometimes makes a grinding type noise when I use a Fuji disc.

Lite-On are the factory now under contract to make and badge Sony DVD drives for Sony. The products have some overlap and have done for some time.

I’ve stuck with Pioneer, however if I got out of step with DVDA like it appears you may have – I’d prepare to files and use something else to burn. (Nero, or a freeware ISO maker then burn that with Alcohol120% or something else).

Personally I’ve had 2 Sony burners. First was a DRU500A and second a DRU540. I had problems with both of them. I wouldn’t use Sony burners again. Sony seems too particular about the brands of media they want you to use.

I recently got a new computer for my editing anf it came with an HP Light Scribe. I ‘love’ it. no problems and I’ve used a varity of media.

You need to use good media though. Basically now I only use printable surface and LightScribe disks from Maxell, TY, Memorex and HP. mY Epson R200 prints disks so I don’t use any paper labels anymore. Of course I never did use paper labels on DVD’s.
