Hi, I downloaded an Mpeg4 from Vimeo and would like to burn a DVD, high def if possible. What steps should I take? I have IDVD and DVDStudio Pro. Also FCP, if needed.
    Thank you!

Hey, what I would do and what worked for me most of the times:

    1. Use Quicktime 7 (I would use Squared 5 – MPEG Streamclip) to convert the Mpeg4 to Uncompress 10bit
    2. Put that giant into Compressor and use that to convert it to propper Mpeg2 (m2v and ac3) for authoring
    3. DVD SP

This is what I do. Maby someone will tell you you can skip the step 1. but this works for me every time 🙂

And watch out! Sometime I got few white frames at the beginning and at the end of the film. Just get rid of them with QT 🙂

You can’t have an HD DVD. DVD’s are SD but can be made from HD but that has to be downscaled first. If you want to play HD material then Blu-Ray (BD) is the way to go. But you need an BD burner to do that and the right software – I use Toast Titanium Pro 11 for that, but there are others.
