In reference to my previous post re: “Make disc” in DVD Architect
I have been experimenting with various ideas to find out why it’s taking so long to make a blu-ray disc in DVD Architect and this is what I discovered !….amazing really….
As I previously stated (above) my problem was it was taking about 7 hours to “Make a blu-ray disc” ( aprox 14GB) in DVD Architect.
I have now tried using exactly the same file and settings to just use DVD Architect to “Prepare” a file ( make an .iso. file) this takes approximatly 17 minutes.
I then burned this iso file to Blu-ray disc using Nero and this took 35 minutes..
As you can see only a total of about 1 hour to do exactly the same as DVD Architect takes to do the same thing in 7 hours.
What’s wrong with DVD Architect ?
    Does anyone have any idea’s

As I stated before, I completely agree that 7 hours is an unreasonably long time but I sincerely doubt it has to do with DVDA in itself and more with what or how you’re using it. It may be even a hardware conflict for all I know.

What I do know however is that in DVDa it takes me about 2.5 hours from start to finish and my disks are about 23.5 gigs with mpeg2 menus and avc videos (usually about 3 videos at an hour each…. sometimes same resolution each one…sometimes not).

My equipment is nothing special… Q6600 quad, 8 gigs ram, windows7

    Hello again Rob

Well I have checked for conflicts by installing just DVD architect on a separate drive with windows still takes a long time.
So perhaps it’s how I use it as you say but DVD architect is fairly simple to use and I have had no problems.
I set the properties to Blu-ray 25 fps interlaced, I have also tried progressive, 1920 x 1080. the same as my captured and rendered Vegas project.
Then it’s just a matter of “Burn Blu-ray.
The fact that if I only “prepare” the project it happens very fast must indicate that these is not a problem with the project.
And as I said previously after preparing it in DVDa I can burn the resulting iso file in 30 minutes in Nero ?

So I have not got a clue as to what is happening in DVDa
    any tips would help

    Thanks

I guess I would be looking at problems burning the disk. Does the burned disk work correctly? DVDA may be doing more error checking than Nero, and encountering a lot of problems. Who made the disk, and who made the burner?

    Hi Bob
I have tried a couple of different discs Verbatim and Ritek both work OK.
My Burner is a pioneer Blu-ray burner.
the problem is it works fine in Nero so why shouldnt it in DVDa?

The burner *MAY* be the difference here since I use the LG burner.

Just for the heck of it…try doing it in 2 steps and see what you get; prepare your disk as an ISO in DVDa then close the program and re-open. Choose BURN PREVIOUS PROJECT and burn the ISO. See if that makes a difference in burning time.

As I’m reading this, the problem is that you have a long burn time in DVDA. Others do not have comparably long burn times. Thus, why the difference? As far as Nero is concerned, if Nero is not performing any error checks, and DVDA is performing them, that could account for the difference on your machine. What media did you use when burning from DVDA? What media with Nero?

    Hi Rob
Yes I did as you say and its definatly when I try to Burn the disc ….the “prepare is very fast but as soon as I start the “Burn” process it goes on for 7 hours ….must be something slowing it .
