I’ve been editing with Vegas for years, but have always used simple DVD authoring programs like Windows DVD Maker or InterWin DVD…

I’ve had DVD Architect for quite some time now, but only tried it out for the first time tonight…

After a crash course using a few online tutorials, I put together a basic menu with animated buttons and whatnot (looked pretty good)

Preview worked fine, so I tried to do a “Prepare and Burn”, but when it asked to set the Device for buring and write speed, I got inactive drop menus…

I was able to type in the Volume name and select either “Burn DVD” or “Test only”, but after that, I wasn’t able to go any further (the “Next” button wouldn’t appear)

Decided to just do a “Prepare DVD”, but when I tried to burn using the files, I ran into the same snag….

Finally, I just grabbed the video/audio TS files that were prepared and burned the DVD using Nero…

It worked fine, but why am I not able to do this using Architect alone?

What version of DVD Architect? It is possible that it doesn’t support your DVD burner model.

What brand and model number is your burner? How is it connected (IDE, USB, Firewire, SATA)? And what version of Windows are you using?

That is quite old. If your burner is IDE and equally as old it may not be the problem but if not, you might consider an upgrade. The current version of DVD Architect is 5.0.

    Toshiba Satellite P205D Notebook

    Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K17LF burner

    Vista Home Premium

    Vegas Video 5

    DVD Architect 2.0

For what it’s worth, I’ve burned 3 DVD’s using Nero Ultra and the prepared files from DVD Architect and all 3 worked flawlessly…

I must say, it’s A LOT faster than the other DVD authoring programs I’ve used…
