Activity Forums VEGAS Pro DVD Architect 5.2 question

  • DVD Architect 5.2 question

Posted by Don Seils on November 1, 2011 at 4:13 pm

I’m confused. I have encoded a 2 hour Vegas project as a separate Dolby Pro file of 158 MB. When I import it into DVD Architect, I immediately see the disk space indicator jump to 7.1 GB. Anyone know why? I just don’t get it.

If I am doing something wrong, I’m not sure what it is. I want to encode my project as a separate video and audio stream. Help?

How large was the MPEG-2 video file that you brought into DVDA?

The mpeg video is still rendering. I rendered the AC-3 file first
That is what is confusing. It is clearly 158 MB in size yet DVDA calls it 7.1 GB. could something in DVDA be broken?

In that case, don;t worry about it.
DVDA has a long history of incorrectly reporting file sizes.
As long as you know that your files are under the allowable limit, ignore any warnings that pop up and you’ll prepare/burn as always.

Thanks, Mike, I got really frustrated trying to create a combined audio/video mpeg file of suitable size, chipping away at framerate and still getting files that were over the limit. Decided to go back and create separate files to get the size saving of 20% when discreet audio and video streams are used.

You should always give DVDA separate audio (AC-3) and video (MPEG-2) files as that what it likes best.
Give both the same name and render them to the same folder.
That way, when you load in the video file, the audio will automatically follow.

If my project is less than 70 min. long, I use a CBR of 8,000,000
Anything longer and I use 2-pass VBR with the settings as determined by the bitrate calculator found at https://www.johncline.com/bitcalc110.zip.
