I’m a newbie to DVDA as I have been using a different DVD authoring program for many years now.

I loaded the video file which I created in Vegas Pro 11 and put markers in all the places that I wanted Chapter points. But for some reason it seemed like the chapter points didn’t show up in DVDA. I fixed that by manually inserting chapter points, and tested in Preview that they all worked fine.

I have the Menu set up to look like I want it with a Play Movie button, but my problem is I don’t know how to create a Text button on the main menu that will go directly to a particular Chapter, without going to a separate Scene Selection page. All I want to do is to be able to put a Text link on the main menu and have it go directly to specific Chapter points. How can I do this? And also any ideas why the markers in my video didn’t convert automatically to Chapter Points in DVDA?

And one final question, I have the menu the way I want it and Chapter Points where I want them, but I am re-rendering a new Video File that I want to use instead of the one that is there now. Exactly the same length, just needed to re-render with a sharpening filter on the new one. How can I substitute the old video file with this new one while keeping all the Chapter Points?

Hi Don, welcome to the world of DVDA. Let’s see if I can help you (the folks on the Cow have been extremely helpful in helping me with DVDA, I want to pay back 🙂

    1) When you render your mpg in Vegas, make sure the checkbox for creating the scene selection file is checked. I can’t remember the exact wording but it’ll be obvious. AND… make sure you don’t rename the mpg or this chapter file. If you do so, the link between the two gets broken.

    2. how to create a Text button on the main menu that will go directly to a particular Chapter,
When on your menu page “Insert-emptyButton”
Select tne new button, in the action panel, set the destination to your video and the Destination Chapter to your chapter (marker)
If you want a text-only button, right-click it and select the button-style you want

3.Replacing the video file is easy. I do it all the time.
select your video in the left window pane. I the right Media Properties, in the Track Media tab, dropdown the video attribute and you’ll see a “replace”.

Mike who is always a great help here reminded me that the pdf manual for DVDA is chuck full of information. If you don’t have it, Google for it. You’ll learn tons.

    3.
