    Hi,

I was wondering whether AC3 audio recorded onto a DVD-R can be heard on all set-top DVD players including old ones. Do all set-top DVD players have built-in AC3 decoding? I’d prefer to not have the audio burned as AIFF as it takes up too much space that could be used instead for a higher video bitrate. Any info much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alexander

DVD players are required to support AC3.
The overwhelming majority of commercially available DVD’s have AC3 audio.

This really should be in the DVDSP forum.
