DVCProHD workflow FCP > AE > FCP
Looks like I’ll be posting my first HD project here next week and I’m trying to iron out a few issues before I start a real project.
I’ll be working with DVCProHD, so I pulled some sample media that came with FCP 5 into AE to give it a run through. The only issue I’ve encountered so far is that when I render out of AE using the DVCProHD codec I see a very noticible gamma shift in the rendered file – both in AE and through the KONA 2 monitor out (in SD).
What is the recomended way to render out DVCProHD material to add back to a FCP sequence? Everyone I had talked to about the codec assured me it held up very well for a few generations of rendering. Other than the gamma shift it seems to be pretty clean.
Should I skip DVCProHD all together and work in 8-bit Uncompressed? I like the small file size of DVCProHD and Uncompressed seems like overkill for most projects.
Thanks-
