    Hi,
I’ve posted this in the Matrox forum as well, but it is essentially an After Effects rendering question.

I’ve got DVCPROHD 24p footage that I’ve captured at 720p 59.94. I’ve done compositing in After Effects and now I need to render out/downconvert in order to play back in an SD 29.97 NTSC Premiere project on an Axio HD system. I want the end result to be letterboxed. I’ve been rendering without fields, which seems to yield the best results as far as having no pulldown artifacts. But, every render I have tried is vertically stretched and requires me to scale it down vertically in Premiere, which results in less than stellar quality. I haven’t tried this workflow before but I’m sure there’s a way to make it work. Previously, all DVCPROHD 24p footage has been downconverted to Digibeta before editing, which results in a really crappy pulldown look and is a nightmare with greenscreen footage. Anyway, any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

Why don’t you drag it into an SD comp in AE and shrink to width (ctrl-alt-shift-H) so it’s letterboxed in AE? Then you render.

    Hey! That’s a thought… I’ll try it.
