  • DVCproHD codec gamma shift and time remap to still not smooth

Posted by Richard Dee on August 7, 2006 at 2:09 pm

I am having 2 issues with some DVCproHD varicam 23.98 footage.

First is when rendered ouf of AE7 (OSX) the gamma is brighter than the original clip (I tried rending in DVCproHD and also uncompessed)

The second issue is when doing a time remap to a freeze frame with a nice ease in, the change to a still is not smooth.

I was able to get a pretyy god version of the ramp in FCP, but I thoght I could smooth it out even more in AE.

ANy thoughts? IS the 23.98 causing the issue?

    Thanks

Did you capture the footage at 23.98 or at least use the Panasonic Frame Rate Converter to convert the footage to 23.98 after capture? If it’s still 59.94 from the capture, you’ll get some stuttering on the time remap from the extra frames.

You are seeing this gamma shift when playing out of FCP after rendering from AE? This is the Yuv to RGB conversion you are seeing.
