    Here are my specs:
Quad G5 with 4.5 Gigs of Ram
    KONA LHe
Firewire 800 OWC Mercury Elite Pro 2X 800gb

I have tapes shot at 720p 59.94 that need to be digitized. We have rented the Panasonic 1200a deck. What is the difference between digitizing through the firewire at FCP DVCPRO HD 720p 60 or through the Kona Card at AJA Kona 720p 59.94 DVCPROHD. Will either look better? Is this essentially two ways of doing the same thing?

Just if you are wondering: The reason we have the Kona is that we want a flagged master on output and the ability to monitor through the card for Color Correction.

    Thanks,
    A

I can’t say for sure, as I don’t have the Kona card (yet), but capturng via firewire is a lossless transfer….merely exchanging 1s and 0s. I plan on getting the Kona for the same reason, for output and monitoring.

Thanks. I figured that Firewire was the way to go but I just like to psych myself out.
