Hi. My DP shot in 1080i60 on the HVX and when I transferred it to FCP, it is read as 1080p30. When it plays in the viewer, it looks terrible, like the screen is melting. I did some research and figured out that the camera was set to “film mode” which I guess FCP can not process at 1080i60, and sees it as 1080p30. When I made the sequence settings at 1080i60 and add fields (upper or lower), it looks fine in playback on the canvas.

My question is, should I just edit my film this way and finish at 1080i60, or should so something else before editing? I am also planning on adding stills, old video (interlaced) and original digital animation.

I am using FCP 6 on my MacBook Pro.

    Thanks, Crescent D.

What are all the specs in the browser on the clips?

Under 1080i the video can be:

    1080i – 60i (AWKA 29.97) – this will be Upper Fields

    1080i – 30p
    1080i – 24p
    1080i – 24pa
    1080i – 24pn
