    Hello,

I’ve read a lot but never done it. I’m capturing DVCPro50 shot with an AJ-SDX900 at 24 p Normal. I’m using an AJ-SD93 over FieWire to go into FCP HD.

    This is my workflow:

    1. I’m capturing as normal 29.97 DVCPRo50 footage, anamorphic.
    2. In CinemaTools I will (haven’t done it yet) do a Rev Telecine (lots of choices on the dialog box). I’ll conform it here to 23.98, make a new file, smaller.
    3. Import into FCP HD and edit on a 23.98 timeline

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Cheers

    (I’m already capturing)

I’ve done that on many features, (usually HDCam 23.98 that’s down-converted to DVCam 29.97) and my on-lines have all gone very smoothly. It’s a great workflow!

The link below will explain the differences in capturing 24p and 24pA and what your capturing presets within FCP should be for the different situations. You need to use Cinema Tools to remove the pulldown with normal 24p and then edit in a 23.98 timeline. Sounds like you’re on the right track.
