    Hi!

    I’m really struggling:

We captured DVCpro25 footage with Final Cut Pro using Blackmagic DeckLink. Now we need to get the footage to a pc for editing. We managed to transfer the files to the pc using MacDrive software, but the Quictime player on the pc is giving a missing codec error. Premiere is just showing us a white screen, allthought the sound is playing. Is there any way to get the footage captured on a blackmagic card on a mac to work on a pc?

Please help me with this as the deadline is closing up on me :/

ANY help will be higly appreciated! Thank you!

A round-about fix may be to re-export the clips in Compressor using the DV NTSC settings in the Standard Definition folder. I would do a test with a short clip.
Also, have you loaded the Blackmagic codecs on the Windows system?
    Good luck.

    Hi!

    Thanks for your reply!

We have installed the Black Magic codecs on the PC also. I searched some more in the web and I think now that the issue is related to the specific quictime files the Mac makes. After installing a trial version of DV Film’s Raylight plugin I was able to view the quictimes on he PC.

I’m looking for a solution in which I don’t have to purchase additional software though. That’s why I’m interested in your suggestion to export to DV. But would I loose quality if I did that?

    Quality loss should be negligible.
If you are concerned you could recapture via firewire and bypass the Decklink. Make sure you select Apple’s DV codec.

If only I could use firewire! :/

The camera is an old Igekami so there is no such port on it. We capture using Black Magic together with a dvcpro deck.

So there is really no way to render the footage out from Final Cut Pro in a lossless format that a pc understands? 🙁
