I’m going to be producing an extended project in Europe this summer, shooting for 110 days, and I want to find out whether I’m better off buying tapes in the states and shipping them, or buying them in Europe (probably the UK) and shipping to the Baltics. Anybody know availability and prices for DVCproHD tapes in Europe in Euros? This would be for both a Varicam and an HDX900.
I have no idea what the poor dollar to Euro exchange does to the equation.
    Thanks

I am almost sure you can’t buy them cheaper there. I know many people that were travelling to Europe and even Japan and still buying tapes in US. DVCPRO HD format is much better known and popular in US than in Europe where Sony F900 is much more popular HD format.
Where in Baltics are you shooting?

Lithuania, but our production partner is in the UK, so that’s probably where we would look for tapes. I thought I understood the BBC was going to DVCproHD, but perhaps not.
    thanks
