DVCPro HD/ProRez Colorspace or Gamma CS3 PROBLEM!
Ok. I’ve searched around and cannot find anyone dealing with this problem and I desperately need some help.
My workflow is DVCPro HD 1080i. Whenever I bring this footage into AE CS3, its giving me this most annoying problem: Whenever I render, or just do a RAM preview, it darkens my footage considerably. I’ve tried using color management and nothing changes what is happening. So does it have to do with Gamma? What could cause such a thing?
I brough in the same footage to AE7 with no problem. But I’m on an Mac Pro intel, and would like to use my newly purchased upgrade.

I forgot to mention that I recompressed the footage to ProRez HQ and had the same problem.

If anything, I would guess that maybe it is the difference in color management between Quicktime and everything else. Have you been viewing the footage in Final Cut Pro (or similar) for these comparisons, or are you comparing the AE renders to the original footage in Quicktime? QT has some odd gamma issues, and while I’m not sure what the particulars are you may pull both clips into an editing app to make sure it isn’t quicktime giving you problems.

Footage looks fine in FCP and quicktime. It only happens when I render or RAM preview in AE CS3.

Same problem here, i’ve tried selecting different color space and clip otions in AE with no solution. With previous version of AE i had no gamma problem too.

yes, in the render queue just set the comp to be rendered in RGB. Sorry i’m not at work so i can’t be more precise.
