Apple “loves” Panasonic – maybe they want consumers to beleive that their dvcpro hd footage is 1280×720 especially with the arrival or the new HVX… well, that’s jsut a conspiracy theory.

It is 1280×720…anamorphically squeezed. The CCDs on the Varicam and the HVX are both 16:9 chips…

For what it’s worth, even Sony’s HD is anamorphic. You think it’s really recorded at 1920×1080? Nope, it’s 1440×1080.
It’s what needs to happen to get it down to tape. Panasonic is 4:2:2 and Sony is 3:1:1. Shocked?
With your reasoning, the whole HD format is a conspiracy theory.
