Hey all .. so I’m trying to incorporate DVCPRO HD footage shot on an HVX200 into an SD project. I render out all the footage in the same SD timeline using the DVCPRO codec .. looks fine in Final Cut, but when I export the sequence using compressor the HD footage looks slightly pixelated and almost inferior in quality to the SD footage. Do I need to be down-converting the HD footage in compressor to SD before I even bother using the media together? i.e. will Compressor do a better job of the down-conversion than Final Cut Pro? If this is the case, are there any particular settings I should be concerned with when doing the down-conversion? I’d appreciate the help!

In the sequence settings, there’s a setting for scaling. You can set the quality to “best”. This won’t solve your problem though.

Try exporting a self-contained Quicktime. Then run that file through Compressor.
