have a client that wants to see “dailies” of her dvcpro hd 1080i/60 clips… should i just drop hd stuff into a sd sequence, output self contained QT… or let compressor take a whack at it… dvd is the method for delivery to her… ???

or perhaps a alternate method for downconvert??

Get a Kona card and a DVD Recorder. Kona downconverts the HD to SD in realtime and the DVD Recorder records in realtime. You’re done.

We have a Panasonic DVD Recorder and it works fantastic for this very purpose.

    ABSOLUTELY…I have the LH.

Just set the secondary output to downconvert in the AJA Control Panel…and connect it to the DVD recorder via Composite. Or Component if it is fancy-schmancy.

I’m intrigued! Will the Blackmagic Decklink SP do the same?

You’d need a Black-Magic HD card for this. A standard def card cannot output a high def sequence.

Hey all….can’t you just take the composite out of the deck straight into a DVD recorder? I do it all the time, with and without window time code. It doesn’t tie up my Kona card system either. Isn’t that easier?
