DVCPRO-HD How many generations is it good for?
Obviously I’ll keep the generations to the least possible,
but how many times could one export dvcpro-hd as dvcpro-hd before the image starts to show signs of generation loss?I’ve heard that Digibeta can do tape-to-tape dubs at least 10 times before generation loss is seen.

depends on the content,
the worst case I have seen lost detail in a single generation (high key bluish material with subtle grads)
to my eye, 3-4 generations on a normal tape to tape baseband (HDSDI) transfer, if we are talking re-compression via software (like FCP) maybe 2 times max.

I had read on Marco Solorio’s compression “shoot out” that dvcpro-hd definitely showed signs by 10x but that the 1080 flavor held out better overall due to being almost twice the bitrate of the 720 version.
