  • DVCPro HD deck – HD1200 vs HD1400

I am looking to acquire a DVCPro deck that would preferrably play and record all the DVCPro SD an HD formats.
Between these two decks, what are the differences and which one would work better? I gather that HD1400 does NOT record DVCPro 50 so that’s not ideal, but is that one better than the 1200 in any other regard?
I’ve dealt with Sony side of the deck biz so far and don’t have much experince with Panasonic’s formats. Any input is much appreciated.

You’re out of luck. No deck can record all of the DVCPRO formats. The 1200 and 1400 will play back everything, but you can only record DVCPRO HD EX (LP). The 1400 can do insert edits while the 1200 can not.

Thanks Chris, I am doing extensive research today and that seems to be the conclusion.
