I’ve noticed what looks like an issue with the way the DVCPRO HD codec works. When we composite graphics with pure reds into a DVCPRO HD sequence the reds pixelated and do not resolve properly. If we desaturate the reds down to pinks then they not longer alias. In a previous shoot with an F900/3 we used the codec and a subject in bright red was generating distortion. Going uncompressed solved the issue.

Is there a know problem in the way the codec compresses in the red channel?
Any good links to this issue?

In all our tests with Varicams and F900s at various setups the problem remains constant and reliable.

Our system is FCP 5.04, using Decklink’s Dual Channel HD Pro card.

    Thanks!
