DVCPRO HD 720pN25
Posted by Robin Erard on June 26, 2007 at 7:10 amHi,
Sorry for my english I normally speak french.
I work with FCP 5.x, I have got Blackmagic HD extrem.
I recieved images in DVCPRO HD 720PN25 (PAL). How can I configure my sequence :
Have I to use FCP DVCPRO HD 720p25
or
Have I to use Blackmagic 720p25
Why some of Blackmagic preferences have got the DVCPRO HD in the name (Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 50 DVCPRO HD) ?
Thanks
Robin

June 27, 2007 at 9:31 ami’m still using fc studio 1.
in this version there’s no dvcprohd 720p25/720pn25 setting.
i don’t know if there’s one in fcs2. if there’s one you have to use the final cut setting.
but there’s no video-output.blackmagic settings containing dvcprohd in their name are settings which enable direct output to the blackmagic-card (no rendering or transcoding is required).
there is no setting for 720pn25 which enables 720p25 video-output.

July 4, 2007 at 1:38 amwill Blackmagic ever support this setting? I’ve been waiting for this setting for a year. I see the setting for NTSC based editing (23.98, 30, 59.97, 60) but for PAL it’s only 1080i 50Hz. It would really help the people in Asia (like me) to finally be able to view a realtime downconvert of the thing we’re working on. Please let this be on your latest driver update.
BTW, a_falk, HDLink requires you to connect to a card or video output, right? It doesn’t work the downcovert alone through USB. It requires a signal to convert. I use Decklink SD Extreme and I thought that the card already acts as a HD to SD downconvert? Please advise.

July 4, 2007 at 3:12 pmfirst, hdlink is a monitoring solution only!
the signal it is displaying comes in via hd-/sd-sdi.
the usb-connector is for the lut- & display-setup.if you want to convert your monitoring you’ll have to use the conversion of your card.

July 5, 2007 at 1:23 pmIn FCP 5.1.x this works only with an AJA card using the “AJA Kona 720p25 8 Bit DVCProHD (1280 x 720)” output setting.
In FCP 6 you can use the normal 720p50 setting with BMD.

thanks for the info. managed to get realtime playback on my client monitor now. apparently needed to upgrade drivers to latest. now editing 720p25 with realtime client preview. sweet.
