I’m about to begin the editing of a long form project shot in DVCPRO HD 720P 50 (Panasonic P2). I can’t find a way to playback from FCP timeline to external SD monitoring properly (the image just freeze). My reseller here in France tells me that there’s no way to do it with the decklink and that i need AJA KONA hardware to do that. Is that true ?

FCP 5.1.4, MACOS 10.4.9, QT 7.1.6, Decklink drivers 6.5.1 (also tried with 6.2) on a MAC PRO quad 2,66 with 8 Go of RAM.

    Thanks

That makes no sense. Black Magic Designs, the makers of the Decklink cards, is an Australian company. Australia is a PAL country. Saying that Decklink doesn’t do PAL is like saying you can’t find any decent tofu in China.

Check to make sure that you’ve installed all of the Decklink presets to FCP. I suspect that you’ve only installed the NTSC ones.

    yeah got the same problem.

I can play HDV 1080i off the timeline and downcovert to SD but p2 DVCproHD I can’t make work. I was hoping updates might work when my internet comes back, but your running later versions than me.

Thats a real pain then. Can’t see why DVCpro Hd is such a problem to downconvert.
