    Hi there,

I wondered if you might be able to help with a technical issue I have. I’m working on a project that’s been shot using DVCPro HD Varicam. The majority of footage has been shot in 24p, however, there are some shots that have been shot in 60fps and some that have been ‘overcranked’.

I’m able to play the 24p clips fine within FCP and it plays back fine on my monitor (via a Kona LHe). The person who gave me the footage also captured the 60fps footage using an AJA IO box but whenever I try to play that footage and the ‘overcranked’ footage it plays fine in the Canvas but not on my monitor. Instead the monitor just displays a still frame. I’m not sure how the 60fps / overcranked footage has been converted but I know that the Panasonic FRC hasn’t been used to do it. So my question is, is it best to get the FRC to re-capture the slo mo stuff?

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

Ok forgive my ignorance. It turns out the 60fps has been converted into 24p using the FRC option in FCP. So, I’m able to view the normal speed footage on both the Canvas and my monitor but when I’m trying to view the slo motion footage I just get a still on my monitor. Any idea why?

What are your VIEW>PLAYBACK options? Is it set for 23.98 or 59.94? The 24p footage will play out via the 59.94 DVCPRO HD 8 bit setting, as will the 60fps stuff. But the 60fps stuff will not play out on 23.98 playback settings.
