You can’t capture DVCPro footage in Premiere Pro, I’ve learned. That’s a bummer. However, I was trying it through the firewire when it was unsuccessful. So I tried it through S-Video, taking it through a transcoder box that then was connected to my computer with a firewire cable. And it worked! However, I’m not able to get a timecode read in the capture window, nor am I able to control the deck, even though “Device Control” is on in the capture window. Is there a creative way to get that timecode in there so I can not only get the footage in there, but also the timecode?

Err, no. Once you go to the analogue realm, you will lose machine control and time code. All these require direct firewire connection to your VTR or camera.

Duh. I just thought of this . . . I can set it up to see the timecode on my monitor. Voila! Problem fixed!
