DVCam workflow any different than MiniDV?
Posted by Jeffrey Buras on December 22, 2008 at 5:36 pmI’m going to be working on a project shot on DVCam. Aside from the tapes and deck, will the workflow be any different than MiniDV? I didn’t think it would be, but someone else expressed concern and I wanted to make sure.

Not so much, even then.
Virtually all Sony and Panasonic DV camcorders (including “home video” models) will playback DVCAM speed tapes perfectly.
Obviously, the size of the tape cassette must fit the camcorder, so most would need to be the “mini” variety.
Laying back to tape at DVCAM speed would require a DVCAM deck or camera, but the quality would be identical if you just went back out to standard DV, anyway.
