  • DVC Pro HD – video is black

I am trying to bring in some DVC Pro HD and here is the problem; I am going through a AJA Kona 2 card and the easy set-up is set to “AJA KONA 2 – 720p 59.94 DVCPro HD”. The device control and capture presets are all set for a panasonic deck which I am using. When screening and logging the tape it is audible and visible and in sync, it is also audible, visible and in sync while capturing. However, when the clip is captured and I play it down, there is audio but the video is black. Help please thanks.

Ensure that you’re running at least FCP 5.0.3. If you’re coming in via SDI through the Kona board, FCP had issues turning your captures into Subclips. What you had to do was delete all those subclips from your Browser and import the corectly captured clips from your harddrive.

FCP 5.0.3 and 5.0.4 Apple finally corrected this issue.

this also appears when the deck is not set for the proper input settings.
Check to see that the deck is showing a lighted 720p on the front of the deck under the audio controls.
