How can I export a sequence from Avid DV Xpress to DVD without losing serious quality? Currently I export into a QT Movie or Reference then drag that into iDVD and the result is poor. Someone suggested linking to a DVD burner using USB and burning it directly i.e. with no compression. Any advice would be very welcome.

You cannot burn to a DVD without losing quality.

The format of the DVD media is MPEG2 and you would normally be outputting in DV format. What you need to do is ensure you have set the bitrate of your DVD compression rate to the highest that will allow you to fit your material on to a single DVD and within the playback limit of most DVD players, which is usually arount 8Mbit/sec.
