DV video going in at to high of rate
Recently when trying to capture DV footage the footage is going in at too high of a rate. When you digitize it goes in at a Beta Sp rate, eating up a lot of room on the hard drive. When you switch to DV Pulldown, it switches to the correct capture rate ( giving you more minutes.) When I go back to the DV rate it goes back to the rate for Beta SP. I’ve trashed the preferences and that did not solve anything. Does anyone have a cure for this issue?

We have no idea if you’re capturing via firewire or an analog connection, and we have no idea if you used Easy Setup initially to establish the preferences for your project, or if you just dived in and started changing settings. No one reading your post can figure out how to help you if you don’t provide more of these details. Please get in the habit of helping others to help you by being precise, that the profesionals here can help you by giving you precise answers to help you solve your issues.

For the DV footage we are going in via firewire, all of are beta footage goes through the AJA I/O box. We’ve been using the same set up through easy set up for over two years and this problem just started occuring. The defualt for our easy set up is set up for the AJ/IO Component 8bit, and when it’s time to input any dv footage I switch it to DV-NTSC for capture, and switch the sequence settings to DV if most of the footage is going to be DV. Please let me know if you need any further information.

Okay Jason, that’s better. There is no apparent reason why you should be having problems. As you are probably aware, DV capture via firewire should be capturing whats on the tape, no more no less, and that should be aproximately 13.64gb per hour. Wish I could be of more help.

In the DV NTSC Easy Setup check the capture settings to confirm that it’s set for DV. Perhaps someone edited the settings. You can also check the capture settings tab in the Log and Capture window to be sure Device Control is Firewire NTSC and Capture Input is DV NTSC 48Khz.Lee
