    I keep getting a message when I digitize DV clip that says
    “The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape.”

    My Capture Preset and sequence timeline are set to 16 – bit 48.000 kHz Stereo.

    How can I determine the sample rate teh tape was shot at?

    Thanks,

    the sample rate the tape was shot at is probably 32 kHz at 12 bit. the deck or camera you’re using will most likely tell you this if it’s display is on (in the camera viewfinder?)

    You are correct. while I was waiting for a reply to the pot I just tried digitizing and 44 and 32 and it was 32 that worked without any message.

    Thnaks for the response though.

    I redigitzed some of the footage at 32kHz 16bit 2 ch and the synch is much worse than when I did it at 48kHz 16bit 2 ch. 32kHz was the only option in the capture preset settings that didn’t give me the “Audio Sample Rate” messagee after capturing the footage.

    32 Khz and 16 bit is not a usual combination. are you sure it’s not 12 bit? i guess the sync problem might be caused by an odd bit rate conversion.
    anyway i’d go for the quicktime method dave suggested.

    That’s the way Final Cut has it in the Capture Preset menu. I took the existing DV 48Khz Preset, copied it and under Quicktime Audio Settings the drop down menu has a choice of 48.000 kHz 16-bit 2-chan, 44.000 kHz 16-bit 2-chan, or 32.000 kHz 16-bit 2-chan.

    As far as the sync issue. It’s not the media, I think it’s something in the way I have my monitor set up.
    The project looks fine when I play it at work.

    At Home I have a Quad 2.5Ghz G-5 with 4.5Gb of memory, the Video is going out to my LCD monitor via a DVI to VGA connector and the audio is going from the MAC’s 1/8″ audio output on the front or back (I’ve tried both) to the audio input of the same LCD monitor.

    The synch is right on in QT, but it is off in FCP (ony about 2 frames), Like i said it is fine at work, so I doubt it’s the media.

    I think I may have to get a pair of Editorl MA-100 digital monitors and take the BlackMagic digital audio out.

    Thanks;
