[Frank Stevn] “Any ideas on how to preview DV output?”

    Open the “Video Preview” window???

You have to elaborate your question a bit.

    Thank you.

I mean DV video preview (not PC monitor preview).

I think it should be trough fireware. Maybe using a monitor with fireware input (I don’t know if that exists), Or maybe using a DV camera with fireware input and HDMI output (I wasn’t able to do it with my camera, maybe I have to change some settings in Vegas)

I just want some ideas on how to preview DV video.

The best way is a monitor with Firewire input, but I’ve never seen one. I know they exist. Alternately, connect your Camcorder Firewire input to your PC’s Firewire port, then connect the camcorder to the TV with component or, if you have it, HDMI.

You’ll need a device like the Canopus ADVC-110 or ADVC-300 that performs Digital-to-Analog conversion via firewire. As Steve said, you can also use your camera if it has passthru (but some don’t). If you plan to do this a lot, buying a dedicated device like the Canopus ADVC-110 is the best method.

    Thank you John and Steve.

I will buy the Canopus ADVC-110 at Amazon ($219.95)

Yea, it’s a great device you’ll love it. I have the ADVC-300 because I wanted the TimeBase Correction (TBC) for capturing older VHS tape and it works great for both input and output.
