    Hey all,

I’m running into a minor issue that I was hoping someone could clear up for me.

Our footage is shot on dvcam as dv-pal, interlaced at 50fps. I capture into FCP using a Sony hdv/dvcam deck.

I’ve always assumed that the workflow for this is if it goes in dv-pal, it comes out dv-pal. However, once I’ve finished with a project and do an export from it’s native timeline the quality is pretty shocking to me.

However, when I go to export – options and pick pro res 422 dv pal anamorphic as the export codec it looks great. However! When I do this the interlace lines show up! I can play with removing these in Episode and get decent results, but I feel like it’s very long winded!

Basically what I’m asking is what workflow can I use with dvpal anamorphic to achieve these results from the bat?

Is there a way to capture dv tape as pro res? I just want the best possible quality from my footage.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

Check your Quicktime preferences, and make sure “use high-quality video setting when available” is checked. This will show your DV footage at it’s proper quality.
