DV In, Out to LCD problem
Posted by Carlo Simone on June 2, 2006 at 6:08 amHello all,
I just purchased an LG DVD Recorder with a DV input. I would like to know if I can use this device to transcode a video signal out to my LCD. I currently have my computer DV out to the DVD recorder and then component out to my LCD…It does not seem to be working?? Vegas does not see the external DV device. I am assuming I have it hooked up wrong or maybe, this is not possible.
Please help..

June 2, 2006 at 5:36 pmSo if I use my FX1 DV in from computer, I can out the signal to my LCD through the camera?? I am pretty sure that I saw a small studio using a Sony dvd recorder to transcode the signal out to tv.. When he plugged the firewire in, windows recognized the player…I guess my question is, how do we know if Windows will recognize the IEEE port on the recorder??
I may just go out and spen the money on a deck…I was looking for a cheaper option at this time…
Thanks for any info Ed…

June 2, 2006 at 6:02 pmSo I got as far as seeing the timeline playback within my LCD screen on the FX1. However, I cannot see the picture on the TV LCD. I have used the FX1 standard component cable out from camera to LCD. When the FX1 is in Camera mode, I can see the live video on the tv LCD but in VCR mode, It says No Signal?? Any suggestions…
By the way, the LCD picture looks like ass from the cameras live feed… I guess that is LCD for you??
Thanks..

June 3, 2006 at 5:58 amJust to let you know, I exchanged my LG DVD recorder for a Pioneer DVR-533-H with 80 gig HD on board. It works like I thought with a pass through to my LCD (Windows picks it up). Makes my life a lot easier now especially with providing raw footage to clients..
Thanks for all the replies…
FYI.. The DVD recorder was approx 450 CDN dollars..Thanks..
