Is it possible to shoot in HDV just to get wiggle room for web video? As a still image guy I always shoot a little loose and just use the part of the image I like. Is it the same for video? I’ve been shooting in DV since my finals will be web sized anyway. I thought I could shoot even bigger images and just crop away the extra stuff but is that even possible?
    Thanks

That’s the idea. However, rendering might be a problem if you don’t have good hardware.

I count on that. I have been entering some contests and the requirement is 320X240 or 428X240.

I should on a tripod and leave it alone, even if I know I will want to zoom in later. Works great. I just use the HDV frame in a custom 428X240 project and I have all kinds of options.

Heck, sometimes I realize that the footage is better using 4:3 so I use less pixels and get more quality for the same file size – and there is always a file size restriction.
