DV Firewire removes interlacing on import?
I’ve had to capture some older Sony Hi-8 tapes so I grabbed an old Sony camcorder with firewire out and started loading in through FCP 7 with DV Firewire settings. I changed to codec to be ProRes 422 with interlacing checked and lower fields first so that it match the rest of the footage I already have. It loads in fine but I noticed that the footage has been deinterlaced.
So I hooked up the camera to a Kona card (s-video and analog audio) and captured to the same settings, ProRes 422, interlaced checked and lower field first. This footage was interlaced, as expected.
Why is going through firewire deinterlacing? Never noticed this with Mini-DV before. Is it the camera? (no settings to change it on the cam if it is) Or is this normal behavior that I have missed over the years?
