DV export quality
I’ ve seen a lot of posts giving the advice to export to DV before going to DVD, or any other application.
I have done several tests in the past using the Mainconcept codec with DV vs. uncompressed, and there is a noticeable difference in quality (Mainly mpeg2 having to deal with the added noise), and I mean a much bigger one than I originally imagined.
So my take on it is only export to DV if you have to go back to DV tape, unless you aren’t picky about quality, or if you are seriously broke and can’t afford a bigger hard drive…
Now, I do have a question… It is a given that Premiere will recompress at 5:1 any clip with added titles and effects, but does anyone really know how it deals with unaltered clips, say having only straight cuts all the way through in a given sequence ?
