dv edit size question
I am a graphic artist at my workplace. Until recently I have rendered all my stuff at 720/486, using the Meridian codec. We have recently switched to DV, which is 720/480. I have been under the impression that I should still render my keyable graphics out using Meridian, because the DV codec doesn’t allow an embedded matte channel.
Today our editor and myself have been trying to figure out the problems we have been having mixing these two sizes. Does importing a 720/486 graphic into a 720/480 sequence force that sequence up to 720/486? We have been trying to export clips from the sequence, and they keep coming out the larger size. When we force the export to use the DV size settings, we get a black bar on the bottom of the exported movie, and sometime the fields get blended together. And, when we did one export, the video under the graphic was one size, and when the graphic ended it jumped to a larger size.
The questions are: does inserting a 720/486 media into a DV sequence (at 720/480) force the sequence to be the higher resolution?
If so, what is the solution? Does Avid Meridian allow renders at 720/480? What output settings are preferred?
Thanks
