DV Deck/Transferring question…
Hi there,
Not to long ago, my Panasonic AG-DVX100 stopped transferring video via the firewire port. After asking on here I was told that the VTR (sp?) was fried, and that I should either get a DV Deck or a little mini DV Camcorder for video transfer.
I went with the cheaper option and bought a Sharp Viewcam, lovely little camera. But the problem is, when I insert a DV Tape that’s been recorded on using my AG-DVX100, the picture is a mess, and you can’t make out anything at all.
Please note:
I’m from the UK.
The AG-DVX100 is from the U.S.
And the Sharp Viewcam is from the UK.
I’m guessing the problem is the where the AG-DVX100 is from. I’m guessing if the AG-DVX100 was from the UK I wouldnt have this problem.
So now, if the above is right (correct me if I’m wrong), does anybody know of a U.S. Mini DV camcorder, that would be compatible with the footage I’ve taken?

Any NTSC miniDV camcorder will play back NTSC DVX footage. Sounds like you’re trying to play an NTSC tape in a PAL camera, and that’s not likely gonna work.

Well its a PAL tape, but recorded on a NTSC AG-DVX100 camera.

No such thing. Tapes aren’t PAL or NTSC, they’re just data tapes. If you recorded it on a US/NTSC DVX, then the footage on the tape was recorded in the NTSC format, and won’t play in a PAL-format camera.
