    Hi!

I’m trying to capture material from a panasonic mini dv camera to FPC. The material on the mini dv tape has been transferred from a VHS tape, so there might be timecode breaks. I tried just capturing NOW, and I tried capturing CLIP with in and out points set. FCP seems to be capturing, but then it stops, and there is no media captured. I do get a clip in my bin, but it says it is media offline.

    Thanks for any useful hints.

1.If you’ve shot using DV then choose the appropriate Easy Set up from the the Final Cut Pro menu. This will make sure all your settings a geared toward capturing DV via firewire.

2.I presume you’re capturing via fireire? Make sure your camera or deck is compatible with FCP (It probably should be). The apple website has some useful info on which setting should be used when capturing with cameras.

3.What version of FCP are you using? If it’s 5.0.4 or earlier and you’re using an intel based mac then this can cause many problems because basically it’s not designed to work on those machines.

    Hi Annu,
Are you trying to capture in a HD through USB, or in a FAT32 driver?
