When I playback in PP1.5 with 1394 device, it’s not syncronize between monitor and PC display. Monitor is delayed.
    My config.:
    Windows SP2 with KB885222 patched.
    1394 PCI card Via
    Datavideo DAC 10.
    PP 1.5

I try same config with windows XP SP1 then it’s OK. Monitor and PC display is synchronized.
Any one help me to fix it.
    Thanks so much.

There will always be a delay, since this is real time encoding (from digital to analogue). It depends on the hardware inside your camcorder or A/D box. There is an additional delay, since the data also has to be sent from your machine to that encoder. If audio sync is the issue, you’ll have to hook up external speakers to the Camcorder or A/D box, and tell Premiere to send the audio to the Firewire.

    Thanks for your reply,
I have 2 system with same configuration, one use Windows XP SP1 and another use Windows XP SP2. In SP1 system, when I playback, video in Monitor and PC display is syncronized, when I stop then both stop same time. In SP2 system, Video in monitor is delayed, when I stop, video in PC stop first, after about 0.5s then monitor stop.

    > There will always be a delay…

Indeed but it is slight, i output via a BRDV600 and the delay was maybe a frame at the most … until service pack 2, then it was a second or so. I think the file is msdv.sys, I am away from the office so I will check on my main edit machine as it was months ago I did this, but i keep a copy of the old version in case. I copied a service pack 1 version over and hey presto NO DELAY. You will need to replace the file in safe mode otherwise it will be overwritten.

Anyone getting a second or so delay via firewire needs to apply this fix, I would guess on most systems there is no need to monitor audio via firewire only.

I am suprised this is not known more widely, as it is a simple fix for an annoying and unfixed problem.

I overwrited msdv.sys file from sp1 but it’s the same. Could you recheck what file that I have to overwrite.
    Thanks so much.

Its msdv.sys, The SP1 build number is 5.1.2600.0 The build number from SP2 is 5.3.2600.2180, make sure the one in your system32\drivers corresponds with the right number.

    Hi

I just did a test the two versions of msdv.sys I had were:

5.3.2600.2180 (SP2) This one caused LAG

    5.1.2600.0 this one was fine.

if you system is stll laggy, check the version you are actually using if full windows (as opposed to safe mode) as sometime XP repairs itself.

    It’s fantastic.
    Thanks so much.
