Duplication / Twins -The Possibilities of Compositing?
I got a funny idea of “seeing double,” of making two of me on the screen at the same time. So many movies these days do it, I thought why not I, I have final cut pro, so can I.
Unfortuantly after my trail I found I can’t, or a least I have not yet learned how that would be done in Final Cut Pro.
What I did:
Took out my camera, filmed one shot of me turning one way and giving the air a high five, then I moved to the other spot and gave the other direction a high five. So my goal is to make it look like there are two identical versions of me giving each other high fives. But it didn’t work:
I thought all I needed for this to work was getting the two shots to match, thus they had to be still. Well the background matched, no problem there.but the two versions of me in frame are ghosts, most likely their opacity is maxed out at 50% (I can see the background through and behind me.), so I have two ghost giving each other high fives.
What I did:
In the timeline, I stacked two clips in Final Cut Pro 5 above another, then went to composite and selected “add.” (Later I tried them all, but I was still ghostly.) Nothing worked. Is there a way to do this in final cut pro, or even motion? Is it going to involve green screens? Is there a cheep way to get the desired results? Am I that far off?
Thank YOu for you future time and assistance,
Will Keir
