Simultaneous post in Final Cut Server Forum:

I cannot seem to figure out how to work with FCS without doubling the amount of media used. I have tried several different workflows and get the same results. I would appreciate your input.

    Scenario One:
Create a new project in FCP, save the project to my “Projects” directory on the XSAN. Import footage from my “Media” directory into the project. Save the project. Quit FCP. Add project to FCS and the media is duplicated. It is in the “Media” directory and in the FCS media folder. It appears twice in FCS.

    Scenario Two:
Create a new project in FCP and save to “Projects” folder. Import footage from the Media folder into the project. Edit sequence. Save and Quit FCP. Add project to FCS and the media is duplicated. It appears twice in the FCS interface.

I cannot find anything in the documentation to explain a workflow that would not duplicate the media. I am at a loss and would appreciate some expert insight.
