Duplicating a comp and replacing an image?!
Hello, I am a newbie to AfterEffects.
I was trying to create a simple effect, using multiple copies of single layer.Let’s say I have 2 images (image1.jpg and image2.jpg). Now I make a new comp A, add image1.jpg to it, and then create my effect by duplicating and arranging the layers.
Now I duplicate the comp, and name it comp B.
Now I want the comp B to retain all the effects from compA, but replace image1.jpg with image2.jpgI already tried holding Alt and dropping, but it doesn’t seem to work.

You have to select the layer in the timeline for which you would like to replace the source before you begin the process.
1) Select all the timeline layers for which you’d like to replace the source.
2) Hold Alt.
3) Drag the new source from the project panel and drop it on the selection in the timeline.Walter Soyka

another way other than holding alt as you place the new source footage over the old, is to highlight both the new source (from the project panel) and the soon to be old source (in the timeline panel) and pressing Ctrl+Alt+/ (on Windows)
