In the dropdown list of my Photoshop, the “Raw” category is listed TWICE. Everything seems identical in the two entries.

I’m worried that Photoshop is finding TWO different Raw import plugins, and that the older, less competent one is getting preference, since I can’t open some CR2 files I have.

Is that the probably reason for that duplication?

Those aren’t camera raw. Camera raw will only update with the camera raw interface. You can’t save to it either with save command. Just choose op en and navigate to file

Then why, in the FORMATS list, does it specifically say “Camera Raw (long list of extensions)”?

This is in the Open/File dialog.
