Duplicated first frame after export from Apple Color and import into AE
Greetings,
I am having a technical gremlinesque nightmare. I’m hoping some kind soul out there can offer at least and idea as to what is happening.
Here is the workflow:
1. Cut footage in FCP 7
2. Media Manage and send to Color (all clips are trimmed with no handles)
3. While Color Correcting is in progress the trimmed footage is used in comps in AE
4. After exporting from Color, original footage is replaced with CC’d footageSeems straightforward and braindead simple. Unfortunately at step 4 things are broken. When I import the footage in to after effects it seems that the first frame is duplicated and all frames from that point forward are off by one.
Footage specs:
Codec: Prores 422
Frame Rate: 29.97 progressive
Size: 720 x 480 (pixel aspect is 1.21)NOTE: When I import the footage in to AE i interpret it to the correct settings (I’ve tried all of the variations and it doesn’t seem to make a difference.)
When the Corrected footage is brought in to FCP or Quicktime the first frame is not duplicated but when I bring it in to AE it is consistently failing (on every single shot) in the same way.
I have tried rendering out of Color with different codecs (and uncompressed) and still get the same behavior in AE.
I have also tried opening the corrected footage in QuickTime and deleting the timecode track. No dice.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? If I had hair I would be tearing it out at this point.
Cheers,
Josh
