Duplicate spanned clips – alternatives?
Related to “From one come many…” (https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/3/946873#reply_box) I have the opposite problem, importing my base camera folders then getting so many duplicate files due to spanned media.
I know this is how it is supposed to work re: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/importing-assets-tapeless-formats.html
“To import a group of spanned clips, select one of them to import all of them. If you select more than one spanned clip, you will import duplicates of the whole group of spanned clips as duplicate clips in the Project panel.”I would try to “select one” to avoid this but I can’t preview the .MXF files or .MTS in Mac OSX Finder. Also looks like Plural Eyes 3 works with the .MXF files the same way – duplicate clips of spanned clips even with a direct import into Plural Eyes 3 (via Add Takes option)
I’ve been trying to just deleted the duplicate spanned masters premiere creates based on seeing if there are matching durations but this feels risky and too loosey-goosey. Also my camera guy did me a solid and all varicam files are only coming in as “NAME_” with no individual numbering.
Moral of the story, I want to stay free of transcoding / log and transfer style imports but still having some barriers to entry. Any advice or workflow suggestions great appreciated as always. Thanks!
