Duplicate Project
Posted by Sergio Lelevier on November 17, 2014 at 2:31 pmWhat’s the best way to duplicate a project, in order to edit a diferent version of the original. And keep the original version.

November 17, 2014 at 3:24 pmEither do a snapshot of the project or duplicate the project.
The advantage of the snapshot feature is it will lock everything in time at that moment. If you do a simple duplicate and have things like compound clips, then any changes to the compound clips will also change universally, throughout all instances of the compound in all versions of the project. Which might be something you want. Snapshots will lock the compound clips where they are, as their own instance.
I’ve switched to snapshots myself.

Me too. Even modified the keyboard shortcut to command-d.

November 17, 2014 at 9:08 pmMe three… Snapshots along the way, make all changes to original. Once a version 1 is locked, duplicate that as a snapshot and that snapshot becomes the “master” until I hit V.2 etc…
