is it possible to duplicate a layer using expressions? or is it always nessesary to actually HAVE two (or more) layers?

    example:
i’ve one layer and i’d like to get this layer beeing followed by a trail of the same layers. i can of course use CTRL+D and duplicate them as much as i want but isn’t there a expression/command which creates duplicates without getting more layers (it get’s messy if i got 40+ layers)

i hope i made myself clear enough my english is not that good..

No, the closest you could come is to control the number of copies of a shape repeater, but it doesn’t sound like that will work for you here.
