  • Duplicate Clip FX Issue.

    Hello!

What I am trying to do is duplicate a video clip and have different Media FX on it.

First I import my video, ungroup it from it’s audio and then CTRL+Drag the video up to a new Video layer above it.
I change the Media FX on the top video but whatever changes I make to it, happen to the video below it. I’ve watched youtube videos where users do it with ease and don’t have the same issue. Is it a preset somewhere that I haven’t been able to locate? I looked through my preferences, etc.

That’s how Media FX are supposed to work. They affect the Media wherever it is used on the timeline. If you only want the FX to affect the new Event, then use Event FX instead.

Ah thank you John! – Can’t believe I didn’t notice that.

You’re welcome. There are no less that 4 places to add video FX: Media FX, Event FX, Track FX, and Bus FX. Each has their own behavior so your confusion is not uncommon. 😉
